Anders Dahlvig was chief executive of Ikea for ten years until 2009.
He's written a book about his time there and his philosophy, The Ikea Edge, which gives instructions to assemble both a good business and a better society
Mr Dahlvig told the Today programme's Simon Jack about the philosophy at the heart of the company.
