British success at Golden Globes

The Hollywood awards season got underway last night with the Golden Globes.

British television drama did very well, among them Downton Abbey winning best mini-series.

Among movies, the silent film The Artist won three awards, George Clooney's The Descendants took home two, and Meryl Streep was honoured as best actress in a drama for her portrayal of Margaret Thatcher in The Iron Lady.

Alastair Leithead reports from the red carpet.
