Burnham calls for 'stronger' breast implant response

Shadow health secretary Andy Burnham has called for a "much stronger and clearer response" from government and cosmetic surgery industry to concerns over faulty breast implants.

Mr Burnham says this is a "serious situation" which hasn't been helped by the "mixed messages" heard over the Christmas period.

He does concede however that Health Secretary Andrew Lansley was "right" to set up the review but "he should have done more" by agreeing a clear protocol with the cosmetic surgery industry.
