Syria under pressure from 'new international coalition'

Supporters of president Assad have attacked the embassies of Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Turkey after the Arab League's decided to suspend Syria.

Salman Shaikh, Director of the Doha centre for the independent think tank the Brookings Institution, says that the Arab League are going to "review the violations and non-compliance" of the demands they made on Syria.

Arab and Turkish pressure on Syria will "take us to the international arena and UN Security Council", he said.
