May 'failed to answer straight questions' on borders

Theresa May today faces questions about whether a secret decision taken by Home Office ministers to relax passport checks on foreigners at ports and airports allowed extremists and criminals to enter Britain.

MP and former home office minister Alun Michael, who will be one of those questioning the home secretary, believes Theresa May failed to answer straightforward questions from MPs.

He also dismissed the excuse that staff shortage led to pressure on reducing the length of the queues at immigration control as the government cuts had not yet been implemented.
