European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso has said that he expects a government of national unity to be formed in Greece, and that the economic problems in the country "will be solved".
Speaking to Today presenter John Humphrys, he said that it was in Greece's interest to stay in the euro. "We would like them to stay... in the end it depends on them," he said.
He argued that more integration at the European level might be needed in the future, which "may require" a treaty change.
