Stem cell patent ruling 'could affect treatments'


This week the European Court of Justice banned the issuing of patents for research into stem cells taken from human embryos. The judges said patents should not be awarded in matters affecting "human dignity".

David Jones, director of the Anscombe Bio-ethics Centre and Sir Ian Wilmott from the Centre for Regenerative Medicine at the University of Edinburgh discuss the implications.
