'Nothing happening' in mideast peace process

The Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas is set to submit a formal request that the United Nations admit a Palestinian state as a full member of the international organisation. But the idea is strongly opposed by Israel and the US, and the UK government has yet to declare whether it will back the bid. Lord Levy, Tony Blair's former personal envoy and adviser on the Middle East, analyses the Palestinian bid for statehood.
