Should soldiers skip teacher training?

Do former soldiers with "little or no teacher training" perform just as well as those who are fully certified?

Tom Burkard of the Centre for Policy Studies, who is on the committee for the free school Phoenix in Greater Manchester which plans to employ only former members of the armed forces, and Mary Bousted, of the Association of Teachers and Lecturers, debate whether teacher training could be passed over by soldiers entering the profession.
