Syria regime 'trying to gain time'

Protests are expected to break out after Friday prayers in Syria, following the death of 11 people shot dead by the army this week.

Rime Allaf, Syrian writer and associate fellow at Chatham House, says that "there is no power" behind international calls for an end to violence and the country faces a "long-term" struggle in which neither side is prepared to give up.
