News Corp boss Rupert Murdoch has said he was not aware of the extent of phone hacking at the News of the World, and was "clearly" misled by some of his staff.
Reflecting on the hearing, Culture Secretary Jeremy Hunt said he was "shocked... that so much wrongdoing seemed to happen without the knowledge of the people at the top".
He also told Today's Evan Davis that he "did not consult" the prime minister about the BSkyB decision.
"I avoided throughout the process any private meetings with the prime minister so that people wouldn't be able to say that, even informally, he had raised this issue with me."
