Boothroyd: 'My mind boggles' over Lords reform

A leading member of the House of Lords has spoken out against the coalition's plan to change the upper house, arguing that making it 80% elected will destroy its important role as a revising chamber which checks the Commons.

The former Commons speaker Lady Boothroyd outlines her concern that the government is "hell-bent" on a misguided path.
