The maths writer Alex Bellos, author of Alex's Adventures in Numberland, has launched an online survey at
www.favouritenumber.net
asking people about their choices.
He says: "It's clear that many people do have very strong feelings about numbers - whether they think a number is good or bad, and which ones are their favourites or most hated. I started to become interested by what are our shared feelings about numbers. Most especially, what are people's favourite numbers and why?
"The more I asked around, the more curious I became by the answers I received. I thought it would be fascinating to conduct a survey asking people if the have a favourite and why."
