The election results in England have delivered a "devastating verdict" on the coalition government, according to Labour's Andy Burnham.
Despite accepting a "disappointing result" in Scotland, the shadow education secretary said the fact that they were expecting to come top of the poll in England showed the party was "really coming back".
"The year after a general election defeat, to do that, really does reflect Labour coming back strongly," he said.
