Obesity surgery 'cost efficient'

The first audit of the practise of bariatric surgery, in which gastric bands and by-passes are used to combat obesity, has reported a large reduction in type 2 diabetes and other health problems.

Alberic Fiennes, the chairman of the Data Committee at the National Bariatric Surgery Registry, and David Stout, deputy chief executive of the NHS Confederation, discuss weight loss treatment.
