How good are your code-breaking skills?

The FBI is using the internet to get amateur code-breakers to try and crack the coded messages found in the pocket of Ricky McCormick, a 41-year-old American who was found murdered in a cornfield in Missouri 12 years ago.

The Today Programme has invited Marcus du Sautoy, professor for the public understanding of science at the University of Oxford, to have a go.
