NPR stung in US 'culture war'

The head of National Public Radio network in the US, Vivian Schiller, has resigned after it emerged that the organisation's chief fundraiser was secretly filmed making disparaging remarks about US conservatives.

These are difficult times for NPR, the closest thing the US has to the BBC, as Republicans in Congress try to cut funding for public broadcasting.
