Children's heart review 'about quality surgery'

A review of children's heart surgery in England is expected to recommend that at least four out of eleven children's heart units should close.

Mother Gaynor Bearder describes how her son was rushed to Leeds General Infirmary for urgent heart treatment but would have died if the journey had been much farther.

Leslie Hamilton, a former president of the Society for Cardiothoracic Surgery (SCS) and was on the NHS group which carried out the review, details its recommendations.
