Cable: 'No alternative' to tuition fee policy

Business Secretary Vince Cable has defended his backing for the coalition on university fees, despite the anger it has caused within his party.

Liberal Democrat influence "made a considerable improvement" to the policy he told the programme, insisting that the experience of passing the legislation would make the coalition stronger.

On criticisms of Lib Dem leader Nick Clegg, he said he was "absolutely confident that his leadership will continue" into the next election.
