Seventy years ago the Blitz began, as the Luftwaffe began their sustained bombing campaign against British cities.

Alison Aplin discovered a diary written by her mother charting her daily walk to work as London burned around her.

She reads from the diary and discusses the spirit of the Blitz with historian Correlli Barnett.
