Labour leadership candidate Diane Abbott has denied that she is a token candidate.
Speaking to Today presenter John Humphrys she said support from leadership rivals indicated only that they were interested competing against a broad range of candidates.
Setting out her agenda, she said she "would take the party to the mainstream," repairing Labour's record on civil liberties and raising more money from tax than cutting public spending.
