Audio slideshow: Kyrgyzstan journey

During his recent travels through the central Asian country, correspondent Edward Stourton witnessed the aftermath of the recent revolution, the threat of radical Islam, and the importance of a US Transit Centre.

But, along the way, he also discovered a stunningly beautiful landscape where horses, nomads and mountain yurts are not uncommon.
