Muslim prisoners 'seen as homogeneous'

The Chief Inspector of Prisons for England and Wales has warned that Muslim inmates could be driven towards extremism because of the way they are treated by jail staff. We speak to the Inspector Dame Ann Owers about her views on Islamic extremism.

Dame Owers explained that prison staff "tended to treat Muslims as a homogenous group" and that few prisoners spoke of prison wardens' ability "to understand and engage" with them.
