Arts Council cuts 'underpins government stupidity'

The Arts Council of England says it is being penalised for being a prudent saver after the Culture Department announced it would be making extra cuts to the organisation because of its £18.4m savings.

Arts editor Will Gompertz outlines the cuts to the arts sector. Sir Gerry Robinson, former chairman of the Arts Council for England, comments on whether the move sets a negative precedent to other prudent institutions.
