Crime: 'The great unmentionable'

Crime statistics give varied views of the current levels of crime around the UK, making it difficult for the public to assess each political parties' crime policies.

Mary Smith, who was made an OBE for her efforts to help drug addicts on the Knowle West estate in Bristol comments on how crime has changed in her area.

Rod Morgan, Professor Emeritus of Criminology at the University of Bristol, examines why crime is not featuring highly on the political parties' election campaign agenda.
