Wembley's turf troubles

The Institute of Groundsmanship is calling for an independent inquiry into the quality of sport playing surfaces, after increasing concerns about the state of the pitch at Wembley Stadium.

Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp branded the pitch "a disgrace" on Sunday after players repeatedly slipped over during their 2-0 FA Cup semi-final defeat by Portsmouth.

Chris Beardshaw, an award winning gardener and panellist on BBC Radio 4's Gardeners' Question Time, comments on the British fascination with neat lawns.
