At least 20 people have been killed and more than 800 injured in clashes between Thai troops and opposition supporters in Bangkok over the weekend.

The opposition demonstrators, the red shirts, have been protesting for the return of Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra who was ousted from office in a military coup in September 2006.

Anthony Joh, an eyewitness in Bangkok, describes the clashes.
