Science understanding 'needs to mature'

Dealing with uncertainty and risk in decision making is a has huge affects on public policy, for example GM foods, the MMR jab, and the threats posed by climate change.

To try and address some of these issues the Royal Society is hosting a two-day conference: Uncertainty and Risky Decisions.

Lord Krebs, the keynote speaker and a Fellow of the Royal Society, discusses the crisis of confidence in scientific authority.
