'Shock and distress' in Madeira

The Foreign Office has said that a British citizen is among the 40 people who've been killed in flash floods on the Portuguese island of Madeira, the Foreign Office.

More than 120 people have been injured, including a small number of Britons. Britain's ambassador to Portugal, Alexander Ellis, who has visited the island, explains the latest situation.
