The Chief of the Defence Staff, Sir Jock Stirrup has admitted that there is "always a risk" that the Taliban will return to Afghanistan's Helmand province following the latest Nato/Afghan offensive.

Speaking on today's programme, Sir Jock said that the first three days of Operation Moshtarak are "just the start" and that people have got to feel that the Afghan government are providing the services and support they would expect.

He added that it would be 12 months before allied forces could claim victory and that " sustained pressure" will turn the course of the war.
