Government 'abdicated responsibility' over Kraft


The US food giant, Kraft has said it will close the Cadbury factory near Bristol, with the loss of up to 400 jobs. Only a week ago - before its takeover of Cadbury was confirmed by shareholders - Kraft had said it would keep the plant open.

Liberal Democrats Treasury spokesman, Vince Cable, told the Today programme that it was time the government re-introduced a public interest test to decide whether takeovers of companies can go ahead.
