Met 'without a doubt' still institutionally racist

Sergeant Alfred John, the chairman of the Metropolitan Black Police Association (MetBPA) has said that the Metropolitan Police remains "without a doubt" institutionally racist.

Speaking on the Today programme, Sgt John said that the Met's own figures show that its black officers "are still disproportionately disciplined, they are still disproportionately asked to resign and there is still a lack of progression for black people".

His comments come a day after Ali Dizaei - a commander in the Metropolitan Police - was sentenced to four years in prison for corruption after assaulting and falsely arresting a man in a row over money.
