Tories 'should propose immediate cuts'

Is economic honesty the best policy in the build up to an election? The Conservatives have spent much of the week being pressed on the extent to which spending cuts will be imposed in 2011/12 and George Osborne has said he will cut the deficit "faster and deeper" than a Labour government.

Tim Montgomerie, a Conservative blogger and tweeter and editor of Conservative Home, and Laurence Copeland, professor of finance at Cardiff University Business School, debate how politicians should communicate the country's economic woes with voters.
