Do equal societies do better?

David Cameron said in a speech in January that "warmth not wealth" determined a child's chances in life. But the authors of a book that the Tory leader has praised, called the Spirit Level, say that research they have done for this edition reveals 'broken society' is not caused by broken families but by inequality. Shadow children's secretary Michael Gove and one of the authors of the book, Richard Wilkinson, debate whether more equal societies are more successful.
