Salinger 'redefined cultural landscape'

American novelist JD Salinger, author of the classic book The Catcher in the Rye, has died aged 91. First published in 1951, the novel become one of the most influential American novels of the modern era. Jay McInerney, author of Bright Lights, Big City, discusses Mr Salinger's appeal.
