Is the public view of politics distorted?

2009 has not been a good year for politicians. Many of them are likely to face the wrath of their electors over their expense claims when they go out canvassing for votes at the forthcoming general election.

But amid the controversy, guest editor Robert Wyatt believes the work of honest, industrious MPs is going largely unreported.

Political correspondent Norman Smith discussed the issue with the former MP Tony Benn and Chris Moncrieff, who has worked in the Westminster lobby for the Press Association for more than 40 years.
