'Imprecise approach' to local policing

The government is today publishing its Police White Paper, widely seen as a response to calls to cut red tape.

Sir Hugh Orde, President of the Association of Chief Police Officers (Acpo) will deliver a speech calling for a fresh approach to the way the police deal with unsolved murders, taking in his experiences of dealing with similar cases in Northern Ireland.
