The US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton says that the country needs a "clear, unambiguous commitment" to achieving its goals in Afghanistan. And she admits that there had been a "lack of clarity" over who is aligned to the Taliban.
Speaking on the programme, she said that the United States was currently conducting an in-depth discussion to bring "some welcome clarity" on the kind of commitment that is needed in the country.
But she admitted that the US was undertaking "a much more careful analysis of who is aligned with the Taliban". Referring to troop numbers, Mrs Clinton said that there were several factors which had to be discussed before the president made his final decision.
And she said that the United States expected more of the Afghan government.
