On Saturday night Daniel Barenboim will conduct his West-Eastern Divan Orchestra in Beethoven's opera Fidelio at the Proms. The orchestra is unique in the way it mixes young musicians from all over the Middle East - Israelis and Arabs train and play together.

He spoke to Today's Ed Stourton about his vision for the orchestra which he founded with Edward Said ten years ago.

This is an extended version of the broadcast interview.
