Rail firm loses East Coast line

The government will take control of the East Coast Mainline from National Express.

Transport Secretary Lord Adonis says he is not prepared to bail out a company which has failed to fulfil its commitments.

He also announces that it is possible to use legal powers to temporarily take control of the two other franchises National Express currently controls and this is being considered.
