North Korea 'is abandoning truce'

North Korea has warned of a military response after South Korea joined an anti-proliferation exercise which could allow it to search the North's ships.

Speaking on the Today programme, John Everard, former UK ambassador to North Korea, discussed the significance of reports that North Korea is abandoning its truce with South Korea. He said he believes that this is the first time North Korean officials have used such strong terminology and there will be a period of reflection to work out what this means.
