But in the last few months more than 20 million people have stayed in to watch either Strictly Come Dancing or the X Factor on a Saturday night. This Saturday 7 million tuned in just to find out who is going to be the next Doctor Who. ITV Chairman Michael Grade explains what happened to "the death of the schedule".
