Thumbing a ride to the seaside

Intrigued to know if hitchhiking is more difficult now than it was in decades past, Radio 4's Today presenter Evan Davis set himself the task of thumbing rides from London to the south coast.

See if he made it to Bournemouth, and whether or not drivers were cautious about offering lifts to strangers on the roadside.
