How do young artists get noticed?

Guest editor Robert Wyatt is concerned that real musical talent is being overlooked by the music industry, eclipsed by the phenomenon of TV talent shows such as X Factor.

He asked his niece, a musician and aspiring journalist, to look into whether young artists are struggling to get recognition. Sonti Ramirez goes to the Proud galleries in north London to speak with some young hopefuls.
