Cricket
What's the score?
Cricket takes several forms, but however it's played the object is the same - to score more runs than the opposing team and bowl them out as quickly as possible.

Cricket tests a range of skills - whether you want to try batting, bowing, wicket-keeping or all three there's probably something for you.

What's in the kit bag?
You'll need a fair amount of gear - a bat a ball and protective clothing - but if you join a club they should kit you out.

Top tip
Why not try Kwik Cricket? It's played with a plastic bat and ball and is a fun way of introducing children to the sport.

Better still, boys and girls can play together, and they can have a go at all the main disciplines.

Want more details on the sport?
Our Sport Academy site has a Cricket section with details on everything from rules to our tricky training challenges where your child can have their name in lights. Plus there's masterclasses on how to bowl a corker yorker.

Participation in any sport gives children a sense of achievement. Even if they had a dreadful game they can still take home a moment that made it worthwhile.
