Basketball

What's the score?
Basketball is 5v5 for 40 minutes of hectic slamming and dunking action.

The beauty of the game is you only need a ball and a hoop (plus a high enough wall to fix it to) to have a go.

What's in the kit bag?
PE kit and trainers are fine.

Top tip
Your child doesn't have to be tall to enjoy the sport - hoop heights are adjustable with the right kit. Start them on a low hoop to build confidence.

Regular players can avoid blisters and ankle injuries by wearing cushioned, protective (often hi-top) trainers.

Want more details on the sport?
Our Sport Academy site has a Basketball section with comprehensive details on everything from the rules ato our training challenges where your child can test themselves to the max.

Can they be the Academy's star of the week? There's masterclasses on slamming and jump shots plus features on basketball stars like Michael Jordan.

Make it easy for the kids to have some element of success, then when they're hooked it is easier to configure the 'niceties of the game.
