Scott Gibbs wants parents to pitch in

Rugby legend Scott Gibbs wants to see more of YOU getting in on the sporting action.

The former Wales and British Lions centre may have hung up his boots, but now he's lending his support to a special Sports Council for Wales' campaign aimed at getting more kids playing.

Dragon Sport also focuses on recruiting mums and dads to help set up and run after school and community sports clubs.

And that's where you come in!

As one of the scheme's newest ambassadors, Scott says he wants more parents across Wales getting involved with grass roots sport.

"Volunteers are vital for setting up and running after-school clubs and weekend clubs," said Scott.

"That's why I'm urging them to roll up their sleeves and help get our young people sportier and more active.

"It's vital that we encourage children at an early age to get fitter and healthier - and Dragon Sport is a fun way to do exactly that," he added.

And even if you're not the sporty type like Scott, never fear!

Dragon helpers don't have to be qualified coaches to assist. They can help in other ways such as:

  • Providing transport
  • Washing the kit
  • Taking the register
  • Looking after club funds
  • Cheering on from the sidelines

Remember, if you want to get more involved Dragon Sport runs workshops across that country that will give you all the gen.
