The inside story of a footballer's medical
Around the Academy:

How often have you heard about footballers being on the move with the deal agreed 'subject to a medical' and wondered exactly what goes on?

Well, being the intrepid reporters that we are in the Academy we thought we'd find out for you.

The Academy caught up with Nottingham Forest physiotherapist Gary Fleming to get the inside story from one of the men in the know.

It all sounds quite technical but it isn't as hard to understand as you might think.

Not every player goes through a medical, some fail but the transfer still goes through like Dominic Matteo's move from Liverpool to Leeds United.

John Hartson was on the verge of a move to Rangers in 2000 only to fail his medical and later move to Celtic.

So what does actually go on when footballers hop on the couch?
