Boris Becker's drop shots hints
Around the Academy:

Boris Becker shows how with his drop shot masterclass

There are not many players who have burst onto the tennis scene quite like Boris Becker did in 1985.

That was the year the German became the youngest player to lift the Wimbledon trophy at the age of just 17.

And now he's teamed up with the BBC Sport tennis team to show you how to hit the perfect drop shots.

Watch Boris' masterclass

Boris' top tips for playing drop shots:

  • It's a feel shot so not a shot you can practise as it comes from instinct

  • On grass a bad volley can sometimes become a good drop shot as it dies on the surface

  • Ideally go across the court as the shot doesn't have to be hit so soft

    Good luck everybody!
