|Sport Academy review 2004: Tennis|
|Around the Academy:
We asked you to review the year's sporting events.
Plucked from our list of tennis fans is Rohenna, 15, from Crawley.
How did your interest in tennis begin?
I only started getting interested in tennis this year during Wimbledon.
Who's your favourite player? Why?
My favourite players are Andy Roddick and Maria Sharapova. I like Andy Roddick because I think that he brings a much needed personality onto the court. I also think that he shows a lot of respect to his fellow players.
Maria Sharapova is also one of my favourites because I think she has an impressive serve and an even better range of ground strokes.
What is the best thing you saw this season?
The best thing I saw this season was Roger Federer winning three Grand Slams in one year.
What did you think of Maria Sharapova's performance at Wimbledon?
I thought her performance was very brave and full of daring. She was made to work for her title.
She had a tough semi-final match against Lindsay Davenport as well as an even tougher final against Serena Williams.
How good is Roger Federer?
He's very good and it seems he has taken the game to a level which the others cannot keep up with.
Did anything disappoint you about tennis this season? Why?
The biggest disappointment was in the women's game. The Williams sisters did not really shine through as much as previous years. The injury to Kim Clijsters was also unfortunate.
Is time running out for Tim Henman to win Wimbledon?
I think that Henman may just come through in 2005. He is playing better than ever by reaching the semis in both the French and US Opens. But he's not getting younger so whatever he is going to produce, he needs to produce now.
Is there anything else you wish to get off your chest about tennis?
The lack of coverage on TV.
Top review Roheena. Thanks.
